Every week, the Epic Games Store gives away at least one free game. And we’re not talking about titles that didn’t sell or are infamously bad. The store has given away everything from little indie games to AAA titles, and all you need to claim them is a free Epic Games Store account. You don’t even have to download the launcher until you want to play them — you can claim them through their respective web pages.
So, what’s on offer right now? There’s one game available for free on the Epic Games Store right now and some content for a free-to-play game.
The Falconeer – July 4 to July 11
Developer: Tomas Sala
Publisher: Wired Productions
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s… oh, sorry, it is a bird. The Falconeer is an aerial combat game that casts you as a “War Bird,” a falcon that’s been armed to the teeth. In our review, Amy said it “offers a unique experience that shines in its combat throughout its 10+ hours of gameplay, even if some aspects miss the mark.” Putting aside the ethical issues of turning a bird of prey into a weapon, fans of fantasy dogfighting could be in for a treat.

Floppy Knights is a cutesy strategy game that blends tactics, card collecting, and asking someone older than you what the hell a floppy disc is. It’s been praised for the way it blends the two genres as you and your sentient robot arm take on a range of quirky enemies. Nailing the right combo is a big deal, and with Floppy Knights sitting at Very Positive on Steam, this one should be worth snapping up.

How to Get Free Games from the Epic Games Store
If you want to claim these free games or any of the other free games on offer, it’s a pretty simple process. Here’s how to go about it.
- First, create an Epic Games Store account if you’ve not already got one. You can do that on the Epic Games Store website or by downloading the Epic Games Store launcher from the site.
- Now go to the web store or launcher and go down to Free Games.
- Click on the game you want, and you should see a big blue button that says Get. If it says Buy Now, you’re on the wrong page or too late or too early for the giveaway.
- Click on Get, go through with the checkout (you won’t be charged), and the game is yours to keep.
You’ll have to install the EGS launcher to play them, but you can happily claim them without the launcher and install the launcher later if you go via the EGS web store.
